The Marin Fencing Academy has just opened a new facility in the heart of downtown San Rafael, CA. We would like to invite you to a FREE 2 hour introductory class with no obligation to join. No hard sell. We're looking to fill up some times our club has opened to the general public to learn this amazing sport and art form - the oldest modern Olympic sport.
The event will be lead by Maestro Stuart Philip Kaufman with support by 2 additional instructors and club staff. We will provide ALL the equipment you need. Please wear comfortable long pants (sweats are best) and a good pair of sneakers. We have fencers from 6 to 84 years of age, so everyone is welcome regardless of physical conditioning. This event is for adults 18 and over.
In addition to fencing, our club supports local artists in this large (5500 sq foot venue). We will be showing 4 local artists all month - Amie Clute, Michael Golden, Gail Weissman, and Sonia Lovwell.
The agenda of the night will be as follows.
- 7:00pm - Introdiction to fencing as art and sport
- 7:10pm - Basic Footwork
- 7:20pm - Basic group drills with foil
- 7:45pm - On strip electric fencing. Referees provided
